Where (or can you say) did you find the €79 for Michelin as that is pretty good.
I've heard that Falken are a decent "brand"

Not 100% sure, but it might be the speed rating.

TBH kumho are ok , only ok but the cheapest ones id be going with are the uniroyal rain expert or better (continental, michelin, vredestein, bridgestone) remember tyres are all that keep you on the road dont skimp on them its cheaper to pay 60 quid more on a full set than be repairing body panels on your car or god forbid physical injuries

also maybe think of the all season tyres could be useful to give you better traction in any ice or snow in the winter

There is a man down here in limerick who does good value and no BS on vredsteins, and i've found them to be a good tyre for a reasonable budget. It's completely out of your area of course, but it does allow me to tell you that i've found vredstein to be a good compromise between quality and price

whos the man in limerick conrad i was thinking of vredestein ultrac sessanta for my car at the moment as they are getting rave reviews been shopping around best price so far is €240 per tyre , vredestein seem to be changing from a mid range tyre to premium they are more expensive than bridgestone dunlop goodyear and nearly the same as continental they would want to be good for the price they are:D

Paul byrne in victory tyres, lelia street. Been going to him for years both with my former work, stuff i'm driving myself, and stuff i'm selling from time to time. He certainly sorts me out fairly handy at times. He'll order in stuff for me when i need it. Have a good few years of good rapport built up with him, but he's not out to fleece anyone, even if it's your first time in there. Only a small operation so can't always be the cheapest on everything, but good service and wants to do business.

I've deleted the all the petty handbag-y posts. Please keep it civil and on-topic.

They're not really budget tyres. I certainly wouldn't consider it skimping by buying them.

Im Sorry I didn't say they were budget or crap they are mid range tyre there not bad just speaking from personal experience that there are better I didn't think I was being abusive or uncivil in the way I said that:confused:

Yeah, there are better out there, but I've found them a very good compromise. I agree totally with not skimping (e.g. triangles), but I think the Kumhos are a good balance.

Sorry, you weren't at all - I was referring to posts by other people, which I have since deleted. I was just responding to your post at the same time :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,106 ✭✭✭SpannerMonkey

I've heard anything from €12 to €20 a wheel !! So in the long long it ends up cheaper to buy them from the Tyre retailer. Blakes Cross are doing Michelin for four €100e all in and I think Bridgestones €105, Firestone €90 . Some FastFit have a special deal on Conti 205/55R16 that include €40 cash back if 4 are bought

    Edit:
    Bridgestone €95

    Not Your Ornery Onager

OP, if you're prepared to buy used tyres, have a look at www.tyreland.ie and if you're interested, give them a bell to check what they have available. You'll need to know the size (of the existing tyres) if you're calling them for a price.

Id be paying about 80euro per tyre from a retailer though - looks like i can get a decent tyre online for a bout 40 - 50 euro each
