This is an engine I got for a boat that I am building it's a small block chevy and has an odd noise coming from it,I hope to rebuild it and would like to know where I can get parts for it in Ireland or better still north Dublin.
Also if you think you know what the tapping noise might be that would be great:) Thanks. just click on the pic

I am not sure the engine number is 355909 and the manifold is 346260 I don't know a lot about these engines so any info would be great. I hope to dress it up to look like thisTHANKS.

    thats a sweet block alright....

your best bit is buying online... parts for that might be hard to come by as there arent too many of those blocks in the country

Its not an LS1 anyway. What type of car is it out of?

It's not quite a car I got it out of this, is an american import and not the type of thing the local boat shop has parts for that's why I thought I would try the motoring thread.

one of the users on here "shagman" has a gra for all things V8 / Americana - maybe you could drop him a line. He's in the process of doing a rebuild on a day van i believe

Ive come across a slight bottom end knock on these on boats, its very slight, sounds like a tap. New bearing caps might be whats needed.

You should really ask in the classics forum. Plenty of American muscle enthusiasts there. :)

Its a small block chevy engine. 350ci/5.7L
The number you quoted on the block is the casting number.
Just had a quick look there seems its show it as a 305ci/5L engine.

You would be better looking on some classic car forums and american car clubs in ireland.
Maybe even kitcar Ireland might be able to help.

AFAIK MasterCraft ski boats use the GM V8s. Might be worth looking for old/non running ones

Not sure about dealers in Ireland, but would recommend both these

    http://www.realsteel.co.uk/

and for more advanced stuff, the US based

    http://www.jegs.com/

JEGS are very good beyond the more common small block V8's, your best bet is to ring them though, they are very knowledgeable and can help you find exactly what you need better than you stumbling through their website.

Thanks guys I will start off this week with a compression test and see where to go from there, The oil pressure is good, but it is so bloody loud :D I can't tell were the tapping is coming from so I will go by process of elimination.
