    Great Idea :pac:
Somewhere in Dublin City Centre would be a good idea. So Many options....The date may be tricker, I think a lot of people will be in waterford the weekend of the 11th December for the half marathon and the following weekend may be a bit late. So I'll suggest Saturday 4th december as the date...

I like the 4th also, hopefully celebrating a half decent time for the jingle bells 5k.

4th or 5th - Christmas starts early in boardsland  If it was, like, near to the holidays I'd probably be in town.

Any Goal Miles on Stephen's Day? And then off to family run establishment!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 20,366 Mod ✭✭✭✭RacoonQueen

Is the 19th or 20th too close to Christmas/too close to work Christmas parties? My work party is on the 19th and would welcome a good excuse not to attend.

Does it even have to be December? Last weekend in November even. There's a lot of races in December so we'll never find a date to suit all.

I have no problem with having the beers in waterfors on the 11th. I'm not sure we would get a full turnout down there though...

17th-20th december would be cool with me too, I'm easy....

4th December Jingle Bells day the best for it. There'll probably be a boards drinking session after that anyway so may as well make an xmas party out of it.

+1, for the 4th. Cant do sunday with work and as said 11th alot will be in waterford and after that most will be broke with xmas shopping and parties etc.

But fairest way is a poll and whatever will be will be

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,598 ✭✭✭shels4ever

Would prefer the 19th/20th myself or late November myself.
In France on 4th. Good idea though.

Always good to have a few alternativies also, ran the hill () behind Slogger's house last Christmas with Donot and a few others followed by a few pints of the black stuff in the Salty - I'm sure something similar could be organised again.

My turn for the South Wicklow hospitality... there's a route on Annagh Hill that needs recce'ing, great views to Wales on one side, Lug and Mt. Leinster on the other. Of greater importance though, is that the route starts/finishes by a lovely old country pub, fireside and oak ambience. I'll organize something over the Xmas.

(This Xmas offer does not preclude someone organizing the Annacurra beers, or Wicklow Town beers, or Tinahely beers, or even the "It's your Round" Wicklow Round, 26 cans on 26 peaks)

Know Annagh Hill quite well, stayed with the outlaws just down from the Gap for about 4mths while waiting for my house to be built. Great runs up there.

Great minds think a like I was thinking of bumping this today. Best thng is to have a vote to agree a date, then have a second vote on venue.

I think a multiple choice vote on the date is best as some people can make several dates (i.e. you and me Brian). We should choose the date where we can get the biggest turnout.

Will make an appearance however short though no matter what night;)

You'll be locked on half a pint. Again.

I was going to bump this the other day, I'm already gaining an undeserved reputation on here though so I thought it best not too...

Should a poll be started then? It will give us an idea who's interested. Dec 4th or 18th the 2 realistic options?

I think I messed up the poll, I meant to just have 2 options but to allow people to have multiple votes as I'm sure some people can make either.

When we have a date set we can stick up a poll for venue.

Who would that have been?! And it was a good idea! They were lovely cans sitting in the sunshine watching all those crazy ultras coming home...

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 20,366 Mod ✭✭✭✭RacoonQueen

    Where's the both option?

    Brian asked me to ask...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,915 ✭✭✭✭menoscemo

If the majority choose either, do we go out boozing both nights? :pac:

Shame some people weren't more generous and willing to share with the ultra runners who hadn't had anything remotely cold to drink for hours!

It's only fair. Then everyone gets to join in.

I'd be up for both nights, borderline alcoholism possibly. We're taking it on tour to waterford on the middle week :p

I think this needs a bump.

So if we're decided that Saturday 4th December is the date, can we make any decisions about a location? maybe we should put up a new thread?

Presumably, we are going to somewhere in Dublin city centre, as most
people will be coming by public transport ( unless we are supposed to run there, and show off our compression tights and garmin watches to the crowd).

First vote for the Bull and Castle - good beer, nice area upstairs with tables

That's a good shout. It was going to be one of the places I suggested.

First off, I believe (hope) RQ is joking
Second, I don't think there are any Karaoke bars in Dublin
Thirdly, No fecking way I'm going to a karaoke bar even if there is one.
