Instead of the TV3 moaning here, why doesn't everybody complain?

    saorview@rte.ie

That's the email address on the Saorview website where they claim you should be able to receive TV3, go on, a few thousand email complaint's might annoy them as much as the launch fiasco is annoying us.

And please, don't turn this into a moaning thread, I'm well aware of all the issues involved but bottom line is that the website is wrong and misleading.

First person to post the templted email that everyone else will receive wins a special prize! :D

There would be more point in sending registered mail written letter to TV3. I'm sure that is where the problem lies.

I've acknowledged that I'm aware of the real issues in the first post BUT the website is wrong and misleading and they (RTE) were wrong to launch the site with incorrect information.

I think, politically it is not so simple. RTE NL tasked with having the main 4 channels to 90% by 31st October by Ministerial Decree.
Mr. Conor Hayes: ... I will set out RTE Network Limited’s current predictions for population coverage of the first free-to-air national public service multiplex, which will be operational from October 2010. The company predicts that by that month, the system will have been installed on 28 sites nationally. We reckon we will have approximately 94.5% population coverage. Members should bear in mind that our statutory remit is to provide for 90% coverage.

They should have however had a footnote [subject to TV3 making carriage arrangements with RTE NL]

TV3 never respond to emails. Ever. Maybe Wattys email of a registered letter might get further.

I sent the following mail last Saturday. Got the same response as piaget.

According to your site “On the 29th of October 2010, SAORVIEW will be turned on as a trial service. From that date, RTÉ One, RTÉ Two, TV3, TG4 and RTÉ News Now will be broadcast as trial digital services. ”

However it appears that TV3 is not being broadcast. When can we expect to receive TV3?

Well I just read this thread now after posting my views on a couple of others about Saorview earlier and I think we should keep emailing or send letters to TV3 demanding that they allow their station to be broadcast on Saorview immediately and point out to them that they are already in breach of their license as regards not paying for full analogue coverage on relays in parts of the country and that we the viewing public deserve to be treated better. We could also reinforce the idea to TV3 that they would generate more advertising revenue tell them if they were on Saorview by this week because of the much greater digital coverage. :)

I would imagine they have already arrived at their perfect advertising revenue vs. transmission costs formula.

The problem is that they get away with it.

After so many years of testing and fideling around with the Irish DTT it is not easy to understand why the advertised service in WWW.SAORVIEW.IE is now not available.
Maybe there is a technical/political reason for it but they should really anounce this or tell us about it on WWW.SAORVIEW.IE

Got email replies from RTE and Comreg today, Comreg says it has nothing to do with them and RTE said
there is a procedural issue at TV3 which is preventing RTÉ from doing so at this juncture. RTÉ hopes to receive TV3’s consent to turn on the channel shortly.

    Still no reply from TV3...
