With all the doom a gloom in the county I thought it would be a good idea to cheer ourselves up by following the French’s example, no I don’t mean everyone going on strike and wrecking the place but instead doing away with the establishment (with a few exceptions). So I’m hypothetically proposing to borrow La Guillotine from a museum in France and setting it up in Stephens Green.

There is a 100 places in the queue and since it’s my idea - I get to pick who goes first.

I was going to pick someone from the government or perhaps a banker or “developer” but for his recent attempt to break the world record for most plugs per minute on a chat show it has to be the king of the tossers himself Chris de Burgh, and for that display of tosserism I’ll be holding the rope myself.

    Whos next?

Jeremy Kyle. We'd have to fly him over here but it would be worth it.

Politician: Bertie Ahern. Non-politician: Louis Walsh. Both smug and slimy tossers.

Or are they a realistic, optimistic and pragmatic bunch that understand the challenges of the current economic impasse.

I am in no way suggesting that all government policy in Ireland is justified and should be swallowed hook, line and sinker ..
but ermmm, the comparison to France is quite sensationalist to say the least!...Common, those folks strike and protest at the mention of CHANGE!....
Protests in France is basically an institutional behavioural concept even it is sensibly unjustified...
