should i get an ipad?

    I am contemplating on getting an ipad. I have an iphone and love it. my sony laptop is acting up a bit and i was going to buy a new laptop but now fancy an ipad. i just use it for surfing the net, photos, music and watching movies. should i buy an ipad?

    can i still watch streamed movies and tv programmes from websites such as megaupload?

    Ugh, this argument of the iPad is great vs the iPad is **** will go on forever. OP the best thing to do is read into it a lot before dropping a minimum of 499 on it.

    Judging from what you want it for, it would tick all the boxes except for watching streamed stuff online, as it is usually flash based which the iPad does not support, although a lot of sites are heading for HTML 5 which will wok on the iPad. If you can get over that, then go and buy one. No one can deny the iOS is a pleasure to use. You'll have people saying oh there's no USB port, etc. but who cares if you don't need it. When I bought my iPhone I had the usual crap of people saying the camera is rubbish, no turn by turn navigation and you can't customise it etc.. I never use the camera or gps, and I don't wanna customise it, so it doesn't bother me.

    Best way to look at it is does it do everything you want it to? If it lacks features you don't need then who cares?

    The one thing i will say is that the original poster was looking to get one possibly instead of a new laptop. Ipad is certainly not a replacement for a laptop even if it is mainly used for internet. Basically i don't think an ipad is worth anything to you if you don't have a laptop or computer to hook it up to to add Movies, Music, Photos etc.....
