    If the goverment put the price of an new passport up to €500 how much money would that make ?

    It depends on the amount of people requiring a passport.

    It wouldnt really fit into the governments policy of the "release valve" of pushing Irish people to Immigrate however.

    Yea, cool make the 60,000 or so emigrants dish out one final payment before they leave.Withn a growing market of families emigrating we'd probably net multipls of that. Callous, but probably will make sure they don't come back, so reduced welfare.;)

    Now the sceptic in me says it may also have the negative effect of incentivising people to stay. Pay €500 for passport to leave, or do nothing and get €200/week on the dole?:confused:

    Do you mean €20/week on the dole?
