Hp Photosmart b110 wifi setup problems with mac

Does anyone here use a wifi printer/scanner that will wake up when a mac sends a printjob and managed to get the scanner to work. I can get the scanner to work via the web page of the printer which I have given a static ip in my LAN. I can't get it to register with the mac in image scanner or in hps own software. WTF. Hps own software seems to lose the printer too after the printer sleeps. WTF. At all times I can still load the webpage of the hp all in one. Does anyone have a good way of setting this up via wifi so that other machines in the house can use it without the mac having to be on? Please

HP's printer/scanner software is garbage. It's probably the closest thing to a virus on the Mac. I'm not sure if it will help with wake/sleep, but you might want to consider using VueScan for the scanner.

I am currently in discussion on the HP forum. If I get the 'have you updated to the latest software?' question, I will go to America or Indonesia or wherever and get really very cross. I deleted their bloatware, thus leaving the driver and still no solution. Unfortunately there are no problems with a vista pc in the house and also windows 7 running in Bootcamp on the same mini, so it isn't hardware. It is purely a snow leopard/ hp problem.

The print queue shows 'Looking for printer...' and interestingly if you go to add the printer manually in Print and Faxes it appears and then disappears in the add printer window. There must be some sort of timeout in bonjour.

I've now given up using it wirelessly with my mac and pulled out an old usb hub, but my other machines will use it wirelessly and thus I won't need to leave my mac awake for the kids to print stuff when I'm away. Let's hope Lion osx cure this.

Would something like Wake550 or Wakeonlan work? See if there is a setting somewhere that keeps the aerial on the scanner awake.

Looks like HP have more than one product with this problem!
