    Hello all,

Planning a photoshop/gimp for the UCC photography society and wondering what would be best for beginners, we've an hour to show things to improve photos.

I was thinking crop, rotate, colours and exposure the kind of basic things to go wrong with a photo for a beginner.

A majority of the members shoot with compacts and are very much in it for the fun more than a future career. The minority with SLR's are already familiar with photoshop, so showing anything to do with raw files wouldn't be much help.

Anyone have any suggestions or in fact something you found handy when you were learning(even a short cut, or something that made processing with gimp easier)?

I rarely used photoshop/gimp and then went straight onto lightroom so don't know much about editing in these programs.

    Thank you!

Also, We'll be showing these on a projector using the latest gimp package.

Take a look at this guy's videos: Enselic's GIMP tutorials

I'm sure there are others, but Enselic is a Gimp dev and I found his tutorials useful. They cover the basics, the interface, up to including layers and so forth. He basically takes you through how to do a 'Photoshop'.

The tutorials are for older versions of Gimp, however the principals will still be the same.

Thanks for that, I'll take a look now :)
