    Hi,

My twin boys are nearly 3 weeks now and some one was telling me today that I might be entitled to get tax credits for been a parent.

Myself and my partner are not married, we live together and she's not working.

Anyone know is this true and if I can do it?

Unfortunately not, because you live together.

If you did not live together and the child resided with both of ye for some period, ye would both be entitled to the one parent family credit and the increased one parent family band.

To make the system even worse....if you were married, your wife could claim the home carers tax credit as she is not working and you could use that against your tax. But you have to be married for this to be the case.

Hopefully with the new civil partnership bill, all these inequalities will be sorted out.

    Apologies, rant over!

don't forget to claim your twin grant (650) plus triple childrens allowance (450 pm).
