I've been using Smart telecom as my internet and phone provider since July 2009 and have been quite content till now anyway.

A vodafone sales man called round 5 weeks ago and gave me a good offer to switch to them so I agreed and signed the contract there and then. Since that Smart have refused to transfer my line to Vodafone insisting that they own the line and are not obliged to give it over to Vodafone.

I was initially connected to Eircom when i moved into the house without any broadband just a phone line so Smart did not have to install any lines for me or anything so my question is how can Smart claim the rights to my line??

How long a contract did you sign with Smart? Normal ones are 12 months.

This is the thing, it was a 12 month contract. I see no reason for them to hold me from moving provider..I dont owe them anything either, all bills paid up

Get on to the the lads on the support forum and they will hunt down an answer for you or at least get the CSRs to ring you with a reason.

You don't say where you are location/Exchange you are on.

Could it be an unbundled line?
