I've have a bunch of gamecube games, i usually use the console to fit the game, i know that the wii is essentially a jumped up gamecube, but am i just as well using the wii as a gamecube? just wondering is there any issues with the HW etc?

    thanks again

Have played a few Gamecube games on the Wii, never experienced any problems at all.

If you don't have rechargable batteries for your Wii remotes then your probably better off just playing them on the Gamecube

we'll i'd just use the gamecube wired controllers, I'm just concerned about all the space taken up on the TV cab.

Sure you can't play Gamecube games without a gamecube controller, wiimotes won't work.

Well think about it this way. Do you wanna pay an extra €120 for the Wii just to play GC games? Unless your gonna use the Wii (not just for GC games) I wouldnt bother.

Keep GC games, controllers and memory cards if you have important save games you can't bare be without; and buy a Wii.

Why? (besides the fun tech demos Wii Sports/Resort and Wii Play.....)
Zelda : Twilight Princess (if you didn't pick it up for the GC)
    Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2
    New Super Mario Bros Wii
    Super Paper Mario
Metroid : Other M & Metroid Prime Trilogy but you already have that
    Lego Batman/Star Wars
    Bully : Scholarship Edition
    Okami
    No More Heroes 2
    MadWorld
    Tatsunoko vs Capcom
    Monster Hunter Tri
    Super Smash Bros Brawl
    Dead Space Extraction
Resi 4 Wii Edition (includes Separate Ways)

    Upcoming :
    Zelda : Skyward Sword
    (Epic Mickey, Kirby's Epic Yarn)
    Donkey Kong Country Returns
    Goldeneye Remake

Some of those might be out for the GC so apologies if u already have 'em.

You need the Wii remote to actually boot the game, you can't control the menu with a GC controler!! (then once in the game it's the other way around)

The Wii is basically an overclocked Gamecube so playing them on the Wii is exactly the same as playing them on the GC.

It should look better on the Wii since it can use component cables. Shame it doesn't output in even 720p :(

Gamecube games on the wii won't output in 480p though. They do look gorgeous on component anyway since you are getting RGB output and most people use the crappy white red and yellow cables on the GC thatgive awful picture quality.

Ya, hopefully when Ninty bring out their next console it outputs in 1080p; and along with it their back catalogue :) On a side note it angers me that pirates can play games like Windwaker in 1080p but my legit console and games are stuck in the standard definition era URL="http://zuupqw.blu.livefilestore.com/y1p0XM845FDzZ_yf5PnqVGq9bv1caXjCY1Ga9hPzJ0o9VCv1_rh1zFezwdC9A__1RvKltjAUyOtlME_N3kHrhK3xg/Zelda%20WW%2022.jpg"]link to photo[/URL

eh what? THey can play 1080p on a Wii? Doubtful!
Unless they run some sort of emulator on a PC?

that's exactly right. I think it's called Dolphin. Burns my britches! A small point but WindWaker's cell-shaded graphics really age well, much better than realistic-looking games like the Resident Evil series.
This graphical upscaling they do makes the character models much less blocky, but the pre-rendered graphics (like the heads-up-display or RE's static backgrounds) don't really benefit.

I'm so annoyed because we the paying customers aren't getting the best experience. Imagine if illegally-gained were in better quality then the blu-ray you'd buy in a store. Preposterous!

Exactly. My cousin's been messing around with Dolphin and it can indeed run in 1080p. The emulation's not perfect but the image quality is better than the real thing.

Yeah, I tried it too, the resolution is awesome, but it runs like crap, and I have a pretty good CPU and video card. You can't play that way, it's all like 10-15 fps. So don't bother unless you have a really strong computer.
