A mother in Jacksonville, Florida, has pleaded guilty to shaking her baby to death after it wouldn’t stop crying, and interrupted her game of Farmville.

According to Kotaku, Alexandra V. Tobias, 22, was arrested in January for the death of her 3-month-old baby, Dylan Lee Edmondson. Tobias pleaded guilty today to second-degree murder, which is punishable by a sentence of life in prison. Tobias’ lawyer believes that she will get 25-50 years. Her sentence will be given in December.

Tobias said that she shook the baby because his crying was interrupting her Farmville game. Tobias said that the baby may have hit his head on the computer while she was shaking him.

Should have fed him to the pigs....

You'd be suprised how uncommon this siht is.

I remember reading a story of two parents who locked their son in a cupboard so they could play some MMORPG uninterupted.

    Sad but true.

Baby shaking is quite a natural thing, sometimes they die sometime the dinnay, certainly not manslaughter, more a late abortion

she should be locked up for 25-50 years for playing farmville, hung from the nearest tree for killing her own 3 month old flesh and blood

What annoys me is that these people have for so long looked down on us nerd folk for nerding our days away on computer games. At least we nerd them away on good computer games.

Computer game addiction is serious business though. Furthermore, what's there to interrupt! Is't farmville slow paced and easy going? A game with which one could have a cup of tea? I've never played it now mind you.

Poor crazy person though, how was she to know the thing would wonk its head? Better off not to shake the baby in the first place you'd say.

    25-50 years?

If she had shaken her baby to death here in Ireland, she would probably get about 4 years, with the last suspended for "good behaviour". When are we gonna sort out the laws here.

That's disgusting  I hate farmville I used to let my nephew play it on my facebook but he got so addicted to it and went really mad and tick sometimes over it so I wont let him play no more. It's crazy how a silly game can make a person react in am abusive way.

You're telling me! Look at fans of Final Fantasy 7. The amount of acrimony there still is between fans of Aerith Gainsborough and fans of Tifa Lockhart is beyond belief! And this is a game that's 12 or 13 years old!
