is it normal for a social welfare inspector to just call up? this lady came the other day she asked to see my brother, who is on disability allowance and he wasn't in, she left her card she is coming up next week and wants to see a passport and a bank statement, i just think its a bit odd they never called before is it just routine for them to check up

The others are standard, 'pep talks' but your situation ... not so much.
sounds like someone suggested your bro is not disabled / or was abroad working / holidays.
I hope you asked for ID and rang investigations to confirm her identity?

Unless he missed a medical review?

I know a social welfare inspector. Her job is to turn up at council estates early in the morning to make sure people claiming one parent families allowance don't have a man living there. She goes into the house and looks out for signs of men's clothing, toilet seat left up, etc :D

Proper order in my opinion. There would be no point in inspections if people were tipped off.

yes,an inspector can call to your home without notice.there are many different reasons why an inspector will call.
