I dont see the problem. Whats the difference between 15 and 16? Ru worried about legal issues concerning sex? Otherwise I cant see why you cant continue to date her anyway.

Nothing wrong with a three year age difference, 15 or 16 she still can't legally drink. If you haven't already slept with her don't, and if you have been it would be best to stop until she is over 16.

If an accident happened and she became pregnant her parents might decide that it was something that the Gardai should know about and your life could be ruined.

But if you don't mind having a girlfriend you can't sleep with for a year or so, and the drink thing isn't an issue... well, I don't see what the problem would be.

Hey guys, well I was more worried about what people would think to be honest, You know how some people can be about age differences. Especially if they think sex was happening at our ages ( which it isnt)......

I just don't want to get any kind of a 'dodgy' reputation..... I'd hate to have people talk behind my back about this.

I really don't think you should worry about what other people think. If you are not doing l, or facilitating your girlfriend doing, anything illegal, risky or dangerous then you shouldn't worry.

You're both still teenagers. When you're 23 your girlfriend will be 20. 21 and 18 sounds fine too.

There are 5 years between my OH and me, he's older. In my opinion it's good for the guy to be older.

The legal age for sex is 17 in Ireland so he'd legally have to wait 2 years before sleeping with her.

If you don't mind the wait OP, go for it. However, if it's going to be a problem I would say move on. Think about it, you won't be able to take her out on a night out with your friends/family and legally you won't be able to have sex with her.

Personally, I would move on but that's up to you.

I appreciate you are new to this site, so please read the charters (at the top of the forums) before posting, and do not drag threads off topic by arguing with moderator requests.

    Thank you.

you won't get a bad rep as you could still be sitting your leaving cert at 18. If your happy then go for it there is nothing stopping you.

Even if she was 16 she is still under the age of consent. I assume this is your main concern. You have to end it. Legally you are an adult and she is an under age child... that is how the law no to mention her parents would see it.

Yes. 17 is the legal age of consent not 16. You won't only get into trouble if she get pregnant. I'm sure all her parents would have to do is call the guards and tell them she is seeing an 18 year old and they will be on your door step. You really have to end this. I seriously doubt you are willing to have no sexual contact with her for two years!
