I saw a thread on the net about a list of cars (cars you wil never own because of john gormley) that are either to expensive to VRT or tax now with the new emmissions, old tax system pre 2008 cars....

I was searching for a Mazda3 MPS at the time which is a 2.3turbo.

If you have any info on the list of cars or the taxes, please post.

I think he means that some (interesting) cars that used to be available here, have been taken off the menu. Like the Subaru WRC cars with the small but powerful turbo petrol engines (which are a bit old skool and produce a lot of CO2). Subaru must have reckoned nobody would buy the car once it attracted the €2,100 annual motor tax.

Hyundai i55. Koreans can't even be bothered making RHD models for piddly little markets like ours. That's how much impact John Gormless is making. They'll just sell our share to someone feckin' else !

If they dont sell them in the UK they wouldnt bother with here even if the motor tax was only €50.

Mazda CX7 - withdrawn in 2008 as they would be on the max CO2 despite having a 2.3litre engine (similar story as the 3MPS)
Audi TT Mk1 - just missed the same faith with the introduction of the new model

I thought the original CX 7's had a 3.5 petrol engine (as the Muranos originally had)

Edit. It seems it never had the 3.5 engine

Nope, 2.3 turbo with 256 bhp. The Murano had a slightly altered 350Z engine, bit less power. The CX7 now is on sale in UK with the 2.2 diesel 185 bhp only, no more petrol, but don't know if that's over here.

Sorry for not explaining. For instance from what I know the Lexus jeep is now 'only' available as a hybrid due to taxes.

If you know the VRT and road tax for this I would greatly appreciate it-

Its either €860 or €895 depending on if its just under or just over the 2.3 litres.

The Vrt will be in the highest bracket, 36% of whatever the NCT centre decide the car is worth.

By the way the UK emissions suggest the car pumps out 224 g/km putting it in the second highest bracket (32%) while the Irish emissions suggest it is 231 g/km, which puts it in the highest bracket.

I think we all (especially you) know what unkel meant! I'd use WRC as a general term for anything from a Lancia Delta HF4x4 on.

...jeez, I dunno. I don't think the Japanese or Australian/NZ and South African markets (just for RHD starters.....) are "piddly".........

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Bear in mind this works to the enthusiasts advantage sometimes, eg M3s, M5, 7/8 series BMWs are cheaper here in nearly all cases then the UK and even the US, shocking considering our prices are about 40% tax.

So you could start a thread, "Cars you can now afford to buy - Greens to blame".. :pac:

Of course running and selling those cars is.. difficult!

That's not true, there's been loads of cars sold here but not in UK, mainly small saloons - Tilda, Astra saloon, old Isuzu Aska/Gemini...

The newer model brought out late '09 emits 224g/km the older one 231g/km :)

Renault Fluence is another one which didn't make it to the UK.

To be honest, I'm surprised Nissan have launched the Tiida anywhere.

Off topic, I know, but those cars are a hell of a lot more environmentally damaging than what that nice gentleman toyota marketing guy would have you believe.
Especially due to its short lifespan and battery manufacturing process.

If money was no object and you wanted a g55 amg. if you got amg to do a lpg conversion, would you save much on the vrt as it would be a duel fuel, petrol and lpg?
just wondering, not up-to-date on the taxes etc.
