    Can anyone tell me how much a mans wife has to be earning for the dole to tell him that he wont be reciving any payments from them ?

    My OH earns about 400 a week, give or take (he does shift work so some weeks it's a lot less and other weeks more) and I get 113 a week in DA.

    The calculation is:
    Gross weekly earnings - PRSI - Insurable employment x 0.6

    Just take her weekly wage (or if monthly divide by 4 for all figures) then subtract the above, and 60% of that will be what they consider her means. As a couple you are entitled to 326.10 a week. My OH was assessed as having means of about 220 a week, so I got the balance as DA. If you have children this figure is different, can't help you there since we don't have kids.
