Setting up a local team?

Im sick to death of the dominance of the sole sport available to play in my hometown (gaelic football) and am looking into how one might go about setting up a local soccer team.

However, I think due to said dominance the whole way up to the town council, facilities may not be available in the town but most likely would be within around a 6 mile radius or so.

This is just really a pipe dream at this stage but it is one i would love to see come fruition.

Has anyone got any advice for how i might look into going about this?

Contact the FAI. They have area representatives all over the country. If there are no soccer clubs in your area, I'm sure they would be delighted to help you get started.

Well that depends on where we would have to be based cause it could end up being either donegal, leitrim or sligo.

But as far as im aware there shouldnt be too much of a problem leagues wise, but i honestly dont know.

Make contact with your local league and ask their advice. League's are happy to see new teams starting and should help you as much as they can.
You will need to get a ground, form a committee and most importantly get a squad of players together.
Sound it out in the area, if the interest is there its well worth going ahead with. Good luck.
