my partner is unemployed for over a year and not recieving any state jsb or jsa because i'm working and earning more than 365. euro's a week. he is due to commence a full time fas course.we dont know if he will recieve any payment for this course yet until he attends the s.w.office. does anyone have any experience of this predictment. we assumed he will get jsa but we are now afraid he will be working full time for no monotary benefit as he is not entitled to anything at the moment.

As far as I know, if your not recieving any payment from SW, FAS wont pay anything, however they may pay travel/accomodation allowance. This needs to be confirmed though.

He needs to sign for credits - if only to keep his record up to date - he'll be glad of it when it comes to his pension.

Apart from that, if he is not signing at all, he won't get any payment for doing a FAS course.
    From http://www.fas.ie/en/Allowances+and+Grants/Training+Allowances/default.htm:
FÁS Training Allowance is not to be paid to new entrants not entitled to Job Seekers Benefit/Allowance.
If a persons Social Welfare allowance is lower than the standard allowance, FÁS will pay the standard allowance for the full duration of the course (except where trainees are on a part time course in which case they will receive the part-time allowance above).

He will not be able to sign for credits either. When I started my FAS course, I was not allowed to sign on for the duration.

as far as i know he wont be entitled to anything,
which is a bit silly considering he will be working full time hours,
