Icelandic ash cloud

Hi I don't log on here very often, just checking to see if there was any reaction to a news item from Tuesday night (not sure if it was 6 or 9 o' clock news on rte) The item basically said that 4 TDs who were stranded abroad during the Icelandic ash cloud will be able to claim their expenses for Dail attendances for the days they missed!!! I know one of them was John O' Donoghue (no surprise there) and one was one of my local TDs James Reilly, but can't remember the names of the other 2. No wonder this country is Donald Ducked!! I know of people who were docked wages/salary and days leave after being stranded abroad. Who do these people think they are? To me they are giving the finger to the rest of the country. They had to write into the Ceann Comhairle to claim the days back, and he has allowed it. I am still seething at this 2 days later. What do people think about this?

According to the radio at lunchtime they will not now be claiming this. It doesnt take away from the fact that they "expected" it in the first place.

Also why do they get expenses to go to their place of work? No one else (that I know) does.

Yes-heard it on the news last night that they will not be claiming it-hope they don't expect praise from everyone now that they are not going ahead with it. The sheer bare faced cheek of them to try it in the 1st place defies logic with the economy and the country in tatters!!

I emailed the 3 main leaders and told them they could forget about my vote if this went ahead......I expect corruption from FF at this stage, but wouldn't have dreamed of giving FG a vote next time if they allowed this to proceed.

Not sure if I made a difference, but at least it's not going ahead now.

Mind you, the fact that there are still 4 so-called "representatives" in the Dáil that tried to pull this stunt is still sickening!
