Many of you will not know him but he's the horse that got me into racing and for that he will always be my favorite horse.

Weekend Hussler, the superstar of Australian racing in the 2007-2008 season, has run his last race.

Clinton McDonald, son of trainer Ross, said the decision had been made after the six-year-old worked at Mornington on Tuesday.

"We're just not 100 per cent happy," McDonald said.

"He worked enormous, but we just don't think the joint is going to hold up, so we don't want to do any damage.

"We've pushed as much as we're prepared to push it. We'll stop it there."

Weekend Hussler, winner of 12 of his 21 starts, has been haunted with leg injuries, which have restricted him to four starts in the past two years since he started favourite in the 2008 Caulfield Cup.

After embarking on a comeback in February's Oakleigh Plate, only to be spelled again, Weekend Hussler returned to the track in the Gilgai Stakes at Flemington on October 3, when he finished 10th behind Hay List.

Clinton McDonald said that Weekend Hussler would forever be remembered as a champion who won seven Group I races during an extraordinary 12 months.

Weekend Hussler burst on the scene with five successive wins in the spring of 2007, including the Caulfield Guineas.

    "It's not sad," McDonald said.

"He's been a superstar. He won seven Group Is and $3.1 million."

Makybe Diva Stakes 1600m 2008 Weekend Hussler

    Underwood Stakes 2008 1800m - Weekend Hussler

Memsie Stakes 1400m Caulfield - Weekend Hussler

I'd love to see his Randwick Guineas again. Had a weeks wages on him in a silly gamble. SP $1.65 and wins by a nose to a $21 shot

I read somewhere Nulty that connections have sold him and plan on running him in a handicap at Wolverhampton over 7 furlongs. He gets in with a rating of 45 and is expected to go very close with a seven pound claimer.

Nulty, if you loved the hussler, you would have gone crazy over Lonhro.. Find is Yalumba stakes win over Sunline in 2002 on Youtube...

That horse had a devastating turn of foot and consistently ran sub 10 second final furlongs.
