    Hi Guys,

Im new to this site so just had a quick question about a satellite receiver...

Just wanted to know if free to air is the same as freeview and if i bought the

Humax HDR-Fox T2 up the north will it work here in Dublin-I've seen other

Humax receivers for sale here but not the T2.

Also is it possible to hook up to my existing Sky dish?

    Cheers...

Unless I'm completely mistaken, this is a terrestrial receiver, not a satellite receiver, so no point in trying to connect it to your satellite dish..

It should work OK for DTT (which uses an aerial). You will only get RTE1, RTE2, TG4 & RTE News Now on it (maybe TV3 sometime next year).

They retail for £300+, don't they?

There is a Satellite version of it

S = Satellite, Freesat or Freesat HD
T = Terrestrial, DTT, Freeview or Freeview HD

Yup go over to the richer sounds board and they will give you a boardsie deal on one.

DO NOT be tempted to get the sagemcom version.

Get the humax. , it is a far far better piece of kit, trust me!

They are about €250 with next day delivery around €15

Heres the link to the latest thread on them :)

If you are buying up north the Richer Sounds store is beside the entrance to the Castle Court Centre in Belfast (Smithfield Square side). Parking for £1 an hour in the Smithfield car park across the road.

Looks like a down on its luck electronics store on the outside but the staff are very friendly and helpful.

so will the satellite version also give me the dtt channels? thanks

    no
you get one or the other.

In the UK almost only people that can't get Freeview get Freesat. There is virtually no market for both in one set-box.

Am I right in thinking that as my phillips tv is dtt ready and i live in dublin 7, I should be able to mount an aerial and receive the Irish channels through that and get a humax foxsat hdr for the satellites?

    thanks
