yes any engine can be stripped and rebuilt although it would be cheaper to buy an engine in a smashed navara and put it in, you might even get one with lower miles.1 question though. How the f*ck did you seize it? did you ignore the dash that resembled a Christmas tree?

LOL no i didnt own the pickup, i got it for free of my employer, the comapny doesnt want to pay the money for it to be fixed nor the tow person to take it away so i got it off him for free:D also the engine was pulled out so alot easier and cheaper for me as well:cool:

so how much for someone to stick another engine in>?

apparently foreigners with no a lick of english didnt cop onto the xmas tree on the dash and decided its alright to drive it with no oil:mad:

well in that case(f*ck you ya lucky b*astard);).. just get searching for navara's in scrapyards.. an engine the exact same shouldn't cost you more than 400 euro for a mechanic to put in if you deliver both to his door. a second hand engine will prob set you back 1000-3000 euro. a very cheap jeep ya got there.

i know i jump on it as soon as i heard them talking about scrapping it.

way i look at 1000-2000 for engine
400 euro for a brand spanking new 4x4 transmission
400 for mechanic=2800 for a 2002 diesel commercial pickup up,cant go wrong now

also there in car mags and autotrader for 3-8k so ive i wanna sell it, its all good but im going to keep it as they last forever:D well some do:rolleyes:

    Hi OP,
Have you tried the website www.partfinder.ie. It gives you a list of scrapyards countrywide that have your part. I really don't think a navara engine will be as hard to find as you've been told, you may have to travel a bit though.

If that car is a diesel, your mechanic might need to swap the injection pump and the injectors from your original engine onto the replacement one. The original pump will be coded to the immobiliser, and ecu will be calibrated to the injectors.

I've just looked up Traynors in Armagh and they've broken quite a few of those Navara's. Also, is that engine used in any other Nissan / Renault / GM equivalent?

wow never knew about "original pump will be coded to the immobiliser, and ecu will be calibrated to the injectors", hmmmm will have to speak with someone about that, called Traynors LOL i worked there as a kid 10 yrs ago:D but no engines but did have a 4x4 transmission for 300 euro with only 30k on it may be worth putting that in as well since the engine is out:cool:

That vintage Navara was known for serious engine problems, which is why a lot of people shy away from them.

It might work out expensive, but I wonder could the 2.5DCi unit from the newer Navara be transplanted?

Those Navaras have a reputation for serious engine trouble. They have a nasty habit of conrod failure....i.e. they will punch a nice big hole in the side of the engine block without much warning! I came came across one of these 12 months ago that had only 100k on the clock when the engine started knocking. when the engine was stripped it was found that one of the conrods was cracked & on the points of breaking & the crankshaft needed a regrind.

You might be better off trying to get an engine remanufacture to have a look at it to see if anything can be done with it. If the block was sleeved, a set of new rings & pistons & the crankshaft reground it probably would bring it back to life. I d'ont know where you are based but murphy engine overhauls in Cork have a reputation for being one of the best in the business. This would definately be the most expensive solution but you would be guaranteed to have a top notch engine afterwards which is important since these engines are so fragile in the 1st place.

there's a fellow in some where in roscommon who brakes 4x4's he might have an engine to suit ya . i'm fairly sure the same engine was fitted to the patrol and pathfinder as they have a simmler chassis so they might have the same engine

very common problem with the d22 navara. research on www.nissan-navara.net/forums problem can be easily fixed with new main bearings and con rod bolts. Bearings fail, bolts shear and conrod goes through block. Billcar in the uk are the guys to talk to about the new bearings http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NISSAN-NAVARA-D22-YD25-ENGINE-BEARING-MODIFICATION-/180592562633?pt=UK_Commercial_Trucks&hash=item2a0c27d1c9

I would highly recommend you upgrading the bearings and bolts and doing the o ring mod on the sump if you find a new engine, wuld be so much easier with engine out.

100% on fixing the engine with the upgraded bearings and bolts, not Nissan ones as you have more chance of winning the lotto than finding an engine thats why theres a heap of really nice 02, 03 and 04 Navara's on Donedeal for next to nothing with a f**ked up engines worth about 1,000 euro for parts thats it, I would think thats why it was free sorry for the bad news Google Navara engine problems before you push it down the road and run like f**k
