Anyone remember the 1997 masters when Tiger wiped the field when he was around 21, I have been watching a few videos on his swing back then and it looks alot better than todays, his heads only dips slightly on his downswing, the swing was alot shorter and he knew where his miss was (left). Back then Tiger had a powerfull draw swing, here's some clips of him in Japan 1997 shortly after he won the Masters, what do you guys think? Should he just have kept that swing?

How many majors did he win with that swing and how many has he won since he changed? Thats the real question I suppose and the answer to that would probably answer whether or not he should have changed.

True enough, but the unanswerable question would be how many majors he may have won had he kept the old swing.....

My own opinion is that he'd probably have won at least a similar amount no matter what. So many of his victories came from his unbelievable putting and scrambling down the stretch. That was what really separated him from the field IMO, plenty of guys had better tee to green stats but there was a time when nobody could live with him on the greens.

He's made two major swing changes, and each time he's come back better than ever (apart from 2000 when he was out of this world). Last year, after he came back from injury he was coming back to his best (had a couple of great tussles with Paddy). Before IT happened.

The big thing for me is the tempo he was swinging at back then. Much smoother. That swing looks like alot less can go wrong with it if you ask me... but then again, he's won a boat load with both so who cares?! :)

I think thats a young mans swing....no one can keep it up all their career without kness, back, shoulder trouble...

I do remember him saying something like this himself years ago, how his knees would not last long had he continued the way he played in the 90s

In my opinion, he never should have left Butch Harmon, I think Butch had his game in a good place but Tiger wanted to go to another level always as you can understand.
