    Hi

I just read this on the welfare.ie FAQ:
Jobseeker's Benefit and Jobseeker's Allowance - weekly personal rate of €196.00 and increases for a Qualified Adult €130.10 and Qualified Children €29.80. See Questions 13-15 below regarding changes in rates for those aged under 24 years.

    What is a Qualified Adult?

    Thanks

A Qualified Adult is a spouse/partner who is your dependant. You can claim for them if they dont have there own jobseekers claim.

As well what I have learnt, if you are a couple (married or not) you can't both get Jobseekers allowance. So only one of you can get it and write other person as Qualified adult. (196+130.10 = 326.10). And that's going to be spreaded between two of you and each of you will receive it's portion.
When it comes to Jobseekers benefit, both partners/spouses can receive it seperately at normal rate (196 x 2 = 392)

    Am I right?

Both partners can have separate Jobseeker's Allowance claims. They will however only get the same weekly total as you outlined (196+130.10 = 326.10)
but having separate claims can be more useful as qualified adult dependants are not eligible for certain employment schemes with Fas etc., and they also have to arrange to sign at SW for PRSI credits.
