It's maybe a touch pricey unless it's a mint condition model, otherwise I would think closer to 2k would be plenty. The car is ten years old and when it comes to it's next NCT will require an NCT annually because of its age.

<sexist>Woman owner on a car that age would mean zero to me, unless it has a full service history it being owned by a woman would be less appealing to me than if it was owned by a man as I would presume her knowledge of basic maintenance would be low and so the car may not be looked at ever until there's problems with it.</sexist>

I own one.:) Reliable, fairly quick for a 1.4, comfortable enough. You need to check when the oil was changed last. As in; when was it last serviced.

I got my own one (2000) for 1600 4 months ago. 95k miles, nct for 2 years, taxed for a year! But it needed a full valet as it was filthy & i mean filthy. Also rear window wiper had failed & there was a few scuffs here & there. No big deal but these small issues gave me the opportunity to get a decent percentage off the asking price.;)

I think she's asking way too much. Offer 2k to start & meet somewhere near 2200? 2700 for a 10 year old corolla is cheeky no matter how clean it is.

Remember, there are plenty of corollas floating around on the market. You have the advantage. Ignore corolla haters, they're a grand car.

Yeah that price is unreasonable for a car of that age. Liftbacks are made in the UK and apparently aren't built as well as the others, there are some reports of ECU trouble with these (not sure if 1.4 or 1.6 though). The early VVT-i engines like that can start consuming oil, so if the oil is low and hasn't been checked regularly I'd walk away. Rear legroom is terrible and bootspace is not great compared to similar cars of that era. Other than that, it's a Corolla - it won't set your world on fire but it probably won't let you down.

The dreamer selling that car needs to wake up. Car is almost 11 years old and not worth about €1800.
