Ben Amos is set to start in goal.
Owen and Macheda start up front.
Dubliner Robbie Brady is on the bench (looks a great prospect).

    ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Took it on myself to make a match thread, surprised there wasnt one already.

Can I just be the first to say that Fergie should be fined for fielding a weakened team

Super Mike086, hopfully Brady comes on about the 60min and is given a decent run.

Been having a bit of back and forth with Steve Bartram on twitter. He reckons Owen won't play, Neville could fill in at RB with a view to using Rafaels pace against Bale on saturday.

Going with that I'll go with

    Pig
    Nev---Smallin---Brown---Fabio
    Jos

    Gibbo----Ando
    Gaby
    Park----
    Kiko

Hernandez was seeing getting off the bus in a team tracksuit, so could possibly be on the bench.

Bebe starts according to Daniel Taylor.

    edit : Team :
Amos, Brown, Smalling, J Evans, Fabio, Carrick, Gibson, Park, Obertan, Macheda, Bebe. One-to-watch: Ravel Morrison on bench

hmmm........ 9/2 Macheda first goalscorer or bebe 13/2 ?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,789 ✭✭✭nicklauski

    Wolves team :
Hennessey; Foley, Mouyokolo, Berra, Elokobi; Jarvis, Mancienne, Jones, Hunt; Ebanks-Blake, Fletcher

United should be able to beat that team to be honest.

Is this only one skysports or is it on any other channels?

I'm George Hooking this as I won't be home until late. I'll probably manage to avoid the result until the driver in the Taxi home makes reference to Bebe's hat-trick or something.

Not Live on any other UK/Ire channels.

JSC Sport have it live but you may not have the gear for that?

    Cant wait to see Bebo.

Macheda back from his loan spell at Preston also :P

Wolves will win this unless Carrick and Gibson play very well, they have a lot of responsibility with so many inexperienced players out there.

Should be a good game I think.

I just want to get home so I can watch it

Very weak team put out by Fergi.

just for the record can people say they would like utd to win this?

I'm already hearing the "sure it's only the carling/mickeymouse/whatever cup

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,635 ✭✭✭token56

I definitely want Utd to win this, the further we progress in this competition the better it is for team development imo

Course we do. You want United to win everygame. The CC is great for giving the likes of Bebe and Obertan much needed game time. Hopefully game time for Eikrim too,

    Is Micky O injured?

I wouldn't understand someone if they said they wouldn't like United to win if they are United fans.

Smalling to score from a set piece tonight please!

Smalling has such an eye for a long ball. Set up Gibbo against Scunny with the same type of ball.

Granted. Just making the point that it's a weak looking team, and the manager is playing a dangerous game rotating so much, for a tournament which is a good chance of silverware for ye.

Id like to think its an indication of Fergies confidence in the younger players.

Hopefully ill be proved right at the end of this :)

Nice to see Fabio getting a start. His brother is quite a decent player.

Yeah it's a gamble and it's sickening when you lose an opportunity like it, but you don't know what the younger lads are like when you don't play them.

I'd imagine the lads are thinking, "I wanna play more football so we HAVE to win this". Hence, a bit of pressure which is good for them as they are going to be experiencing pressure in bigger competitions.

    tl;dr It's a good risk!

I got a few bob on wolves to win. 8/1 seems a good price considering the team Fergie named.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,305 ✭✭✭DOC09UNAM

I thought it was just a way to make it look like Fabio is playing so he gets a trophy aswell when we win.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was really Rafael tbh.

    :pac:
