    Hello,
    My parents bought me a laptop for Christmas today. The lady in the shop told us that we should open it up to check if it's working becase if it wasn't working we would have only a 28 day window to return. So we got home, plugged in the charger and turened it on and it worked perfectly. My parents are now going to put it away untill Christmas but would it harm the laptop that it's charged but it will be inactive? I was just wondering this because I don't want anything to happen to my laptop.
    Any advice would be appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Robert. =)

    Remove the battery before storing the laptop.

    Are you sure that it won't wreck the battery then?

    Your laptop will be fine. If you want, you can discharge the battery to about 20%ish and completely shut it down and box it back up.

    And as for the shop saying that you have only 28 days to bring it back if it's faulty, Bullshit!
    I would have told them where to go if that's what they told me. You'll have the full 1 year manufacturers guarantee to fall back on if you have any trouble. And if that happened, all it would mean is going back to the shop and getting them to deal with it.

    I would have put it on layaway, that would have stalled the 28-day window, and your parents would have just had to go in and pickup the laptop a day or two beforehand.

    They said that I had 28 days to return it buth they told me that I had the 1 year warrenty so that after the 28 days I can't return the laptop but if it gets broken I can bring it back to them to send back to the manufacturers to get repaired. ^^ And thanks for your help everyone. ^^
