Just a quick note on the 'turning left when telling others behind you' signal, your hand must stay rigid and move in a circular motion such that your hand is always facing down.

Nearly sure my instructor and even the tester told me that when I was doing it, even though I'd done it right? He made a point about keeping your hand straight as flailing it randomly can confuse others

Don't forget to roll the window ALL the way down. I left a tiny bit peeking up in my test and my tester was quick to let me know. I hadn't noticed it and apologised and rolled it the rest of the way down and got on with it. He was very nice about it, and didn't mark any faults, but some might not be.

Why is there still a need for hand signals?

Well...what would you do if your signal lights broke suddenly? You have to warn drivers behind you what you`re going to do...
