Hi there, we've a double height ceiling in kitchen and am determind to put the hob on the island as love idea of being able to cook & see everyone & keep eye on the kids etc. But am looking for extractor solutions for a ventilated/ducted extractor fan which is not gonna cost a mint! Anyone any ideas or done this? (would love pictures & tips if so)
    Thanks a lot,
    DSN

This is very common. Might be difficulted to have it ducted outside but all you need to this fit carbon filters to recirculate the air. Most brands do an island hood.Or your kitchen fitters should be able to advise you

thanks g.man but no issue with getting an island hood but have got a double height celing - would that not be a problem? My kitchen fitter putting me off thinks i'll have to curve the pipe back to the wall & suspend the extractor on wire from the the celing argh! sounds v. complicated.

ok,now im with you.i wouldnt bother having it vented to outside.too much hassle. just use carbon filters. you might have a problem with the actual length of the metal chimney.I know the Elica brand do island hoods that cater for high ceilings. They are distributed by KAL in Citywest.01-4136400.They have a good showroom.Would be no harm to ring them for some advice. They also distribute Neff

Don't think elica are too cheap, but KAL are great for any info and for after sales.

    try a downdraft extractor fan
can be built into island unit
rises and falls into island unit
    no need for hood
    some dont require ducting
    cheaper models available
