Doing some research for a project.
Can anyone tell me how long a D check takes for a Airbus A330?

Well considering D checks are a complete thorough overhaul of an aircraft, and a complete strip, it will vary depending on size.
For an A330, I would imagine it could take 2 months!

    Not completely sure.
My dad works for Aer Lingus, and he used to take me into the hangars to see the aircraft gettin overhauled. I saw a Virgin 747 undergoin a D Check I think..

The A330/340 don't go on D Checks. They are classified as C Checks but vary in intensity of the work-scope depending on age. Sometimes its hard to put an exact figure on these checks...for example an aircraft could go in for a very light C Check that may only in theory take approx 7 days but major findings could leave it in a hangar for double or triple the initial planned time.

But for an A330 of between 6 and 10 years of age...you would be looking at a ball park figure of about 2 weeks. Younger than 6 years it would be about a week. Over 10 years of age and would most likely be over 2 weeks. Again, it all depends on the amount of work that is scheduled and what findings come up during the Check Duration.

Your average D check would last approx 25 days! I don't work on a330 so I don't know but if celtic mech says they go for varying intensity c checks instead of d checks then I'd go with him!
