Ive been on illness benefit since June 2009. I had a medical on 16/10. But I have heard nothing back from them
On 18/10/ I received a letter from One-parent family saying I no longer can claim fuel as I am on " Disability Benefit".

Im on illness not disability. So does this mean following my medical I have been moved to disability benefit or does such a thing even exist & the letter from lone parents just got here quicker than the letter from social protection. Or does it just mean they wont allow me fuel allowance as I receive a half payment . I cannot get through to any of the departments & I havent had a payment since 16/10. Im house bound at the moment so I cant exactly get to the local office to queue & find out its just an error. Any advice please ?

Illness Benefit used to be called Disability Benefit, but the name changed, probably for the very reason you stated, you're ill not disabled. You ask if you got the letter from lone parents quicker than the one from social protection, but they're both the same. You apply for Illness benefit to your local office, whereas One-Parent Family Payment (OFP) (or Lone Parents as it's often known) is administered in the first instance in the Sligo office.

The One-Parent Family Payment page on CitizensInformation.ie says the following regarding claiming Fuel Allowance and other payments along with OFP:
One-Parent Family Payment and other social welfare payments

You may be entitled to half the personal rate of another social welfare payment along with your One-Parent Family Payment, for a limited time. You are not entitled to a Fuel Allowance if you are getting half the personal rate of Jobseeker's Benefit, Illness Benefit or Occupational Injury Benefit with your One-Parent Family Payment.

This hopefully answers your question, but not why you're not getting your illness benefit. You'll have to contact your local office by phone to find out more (the contact numbers, Etc. are here)
