Slicing since changing grip

    Hi all,

Golf newbie here, took it up about 3 months ago and was dreadful to the point of almost quiting, I figured a major part of my poor performance was my "hurley grip" ... so I recently decided to change over to a normal grip.
Found this very awkward at first but, one week in the driving range later and now feel reasonably comfortable and the improvement has been unreal.

Previously my drives where a mix of topping or getting 100yards along the ground, since changing grip im hitting 250 yards not problem and finally getting it into the air :D

But it seems by correcting one problem ive introduced another, while I am delighted with my new drives I have an issue of them slicing out to the right, in a kind of "r" shape.

What am I doing wrong now ?

    Depends on the ball flight.
The first 10m of flight are controlled mainly by your swing path/plane, after that its the clubface.
So if they start straight and fade/slice right you are pretty much ok on swing path but have the clubface open at impact. If it starts right and gets worse then you are swinging in to out too much, if it starts left and goes right then you are swinging out to in.

Give it more practice before you start any wholesale changes. Most likely your old grip was causing you to have to manipulate the face during impact to compensate for the bad grip. You will eventually stop doing this with practice.

Try 3/4 short swings and build up to full swings...using no more than a 7iron or so.

Also, if this is only happening with your driver then welcome to the same party 90% of the worlds golfers are at :)
