Really is there any point to discussions on this board. Even though I love political debate, will anything be changed? There is so much wrong in our economy.

If it informs people better and provides a better analysis/discussion than our inept media, then Yes

If it makes people think more thoroughly next time they vote, then Yes

Yes there is a point to all these discussion, pitty nothing like this is occurring in the national media....
I wonder if we all gave 150 a year to boards ltd instead of rte :D what sort of national debate we all be having

+1 I am much better informed on political and economic matters than I was before I started using this forum. OP as for making a difference in the real world, boards is not going to make any difference to our crisis etc, and I wasn't aware that it is meant to.

Indeed - there's no more point to boards.ie than to any form of expression, in that very direct sense. The media aren't changing anything in our economy directly either, but the absence of a media that reports on our politics and economy, or the absence of free discussion on those subjects, would have a huge indirect impact on how the country was run - that's why many states and regimes have tried to control such expression.

    cordially,
    Scofflaw
