    Hello,

I tried this dress on at the weekend. I think it was 295 in Monsoon in Ireland and works out at 202 if bought in the North- anyway ill be taking a trip north if I do get it!

    http://www.monsoon.co.uk/maxi-dresses/mouroux-maxi-dress/invt/75226103/#

Anyway I plan to wear it at 2 weddings in December, one is a black tie wedding on new years which I think it will be perfect for, There is also another wedding in early Dec which isnt black tie- do you think it will be too dressy for something non-black tie?

Also, In terms of accessories I would plan to keep it very simple and wear a very delicate pendant chain with it. My big problem is always shoes- i am a bit useless with heels- can manage small heels but nothing major- does anyone have any ideas on how to wear this?

    Thanks!

it looks like a witches dress haha. id just go for a basic black court shoe im sure u could find some kitten heels or ones ir not to high ones in marks or dorothy perkins or new look. also i find high shoes with a platform are comfier than ones without.

OK for one, it does not look like a witches' dress, it's lovely! I really love it. I think for the black tie wedding it's absolutely perfect; the question of what shoes to wear with it hinges on whether you can see the shoes beneath the dress or not. If visible, I would go with a simple silver sandal, and if only the toe of the shoe can be seen, maybe a black court like these.

I think you'd get away with it for non-black-tie, if you absolutely do not wear any headgear!!! I think it might look a bit funkier if, instead of any jewellery right at your neck, you went for maybe a long pendant necklace in an antique gold, or even refrained from any necklaces and just wore some amazing earrings. I'd stay away from pearls or anything like that which I think would make the dress look too fussy. With the non-black-tie event, the dress will speak for itself, so anything to 'done' like a big updo would be a bit much if you're trying to make it more casual. I love love love these shoes, and they would work really well with the dress.

    Hope any of this helps!!!

It does NOT look like a witches dress! Personally I think it's gorgeous. I'm afraid I'm no help to you on the shoe front though as I never wear anything but heels myself. 4" is low for me. Hope you find a nice pair anyway :)

Oh for God's sake, it does NOT. I love it. It's absolutely stunning, kind of reminds me of this dress Anne Hathaway is wearing in The Devil Wears Prada, but just with shorter sleeves:

I'd definitely just wear kitten heels if you're wary of a big heel- something like these maybe?

+1 on a long pendant, maybe something with marcasite. If you're in Dublin check out Rhinestones.
I think the dress is so glamarous that you could go all out with LOADS of pearls and chunky costume jewelry. Like a big jewel colour cocktail ring.

You could a belt of some kind perhaps? Something like this would be lovely imo. River Island belt.

I know you are but in fairness it's not a very nice thing to say to someone who has obviously bought the dress to wear to two important occasions and wants to look their best. Just because it's your opinion doesn't mean it should be aired. (Sorry, I don't want to be giving out, I just didn't think it was fair to say that about the dress :o -the OP doesn't seem to have taken it to heart anyway which is good)

Anyway OP, I'd say simple jewellery for the black tie, but you could afford to go a bit funkier to the other wedding with chunky costume jewellery- then it might feel like a different outfit to you and breathe new life into it. I love accessorising outfits differently, it's fun and can make an outfit look totally new and different! Enjoy the weddings!

    the dress is lovely

If you want to keep it simple you should wear delivate piece of jewellery, maybe pearls if you like them. It would look very classy.

You could also wear black beads choker to get original gothic look!!
