ODL/Sharewatch/Crest account issue

    Hi folks,

I used to have an account with Sharewatch which was tied to my Crest account. This meant that when I decided to be paid in the form of shares rather then dividends the number of shares was just added onto my total and everything was fine.

However since my account was moved to ODL I have being pulled from all the dividend reinvestment schemes that I was a member of. I have queried this with ODL and have being told that it is too expensive to operate individual Crest accounts.

My question is does anyone know of a broker who will operate an account that will allow you to be a member of the dividend reinvestment program at a reasonable price?

    Regards

    Blahboy

I too was with Sharewatch, but i didn't want to join ODL, as they didn't offer CREST accounts. So i joined Campbell O'Connor instead. I've done one trade with them so far, and i've had no problems.

As far as i'm aware, Campbell O'Connor are now the only Irish based stockbroker that still offers CREST accounts:

The only problem is that once the new account is set up, you have to sign all of those mandate forms again to take part in the DRIPs/SCRIPs, to receive new shares instead of receiving a cash dividend.
