    Hi All,

I`m looking to spend around 600\700 euro for a cheap second car to do the odd message and basically keep me out of the rain during the winter.Something with 4 doors, decent boot and not over 1.6 is all i need.

I`m no fan over Rovers but I saw one with a long nct and low asking price so i`m veiwing tomorrow. Are these cars total ****e boxes or does the honda engine\gearbox make this model a usable run around?

    Thanks.

I think that when price is considered, any car can be total nightmare or a good buy, cannot see Rover would make any difference about this.

Why is the person selling the car is important, maybe there are problems in the future that he/she does not want to spend money at.

And rest of this is just basic stuff that you have to check with any car.

As far as I know, they don't use Honda engines.
There are plenty cheap corollas and other jap stuff out there.
    Why bother?

Unless it's an auto neither the engine or gearbox is Honda. If it's sound it is no doubt a usable run around despite not having a Honda powertrain

These have Rover K-Series engines (only the old boxy 416i had a Honda engine, or 1.6 auto as above), which seem to cause a lot of trouble with head gaskets - but any examples that are still running now can't be that bad, surely?
