My brother has the above machine and has noticed that when a wash is finished the machine fills with water very slowly, can anyone point us in the right direction on what the issue might be?

sounds like inlet valve not closing fully.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,692 ✭✭✭Payton

Is that a electrical issue? Or is it a problem with the waste outlet not being high enough (siphon)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 186 ✭✭G.MAN

how long does it fill for?does it fill when no programme is selected? or does it just fill at the end of programme for a few minutes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,692 ✭✭✭Payton

it will take about a day to fill but havnt left it for that long. It still fills when the machine is completely off. No.

it has never been used, so i dont think it could be the motor,

explain please so i can narrow it down -that model isnt on sale any more so its not new in the box

    has it been stored somewhere

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9 rain2301

yes it has been in storage, it was bought brand new 3-4 years ago for a house but it never worked and a new one was just got. i just wanna see can this one be fixed, shame to throw it out.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 870 ✭✭✭knighted_1

well therefore it could be the motor - if its filling up the next phase of the programme calls for it to rotate -something is restricting that phase from happening -
    yes it can be fixed

post a picture of the machine. As knighted said its a problem with motor.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9 rain2301

is there any way i would know for definite that it is the motor?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9 rain2301

i just tried it again there and it wont even fill up with water now!! it tries to fill but stops after a couple of seconds, there is no kinks in any of the pipes and the water pressure is excellent.

is the machine outlet connected to a spigot under the sink ? is it in an apartment ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,692 ✭✭✭Payton

The waste is going to a outlet behind the press's thats connected to the sink outlet. And its in a 2 story house.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 870 ✭✭✭knighted_1

ok .the only way water can get into a machine is thru the solenoid valve or back flow (siphoning) thru the outlet hose usually connected to the spigot -

now a lot of 'salvaged' parts have made it onto the market .eg end of life machines stripped and parts cleaned

i suspect you have been given a faulty part

where did you buy it ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,692 ✭✭✭Payton

It was bought in Quinn Spares Tullamore

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 870 ✭✭✭knighted_1

i suspect you got a dodgy part - the only absolute and utter longshot is if the solenoid valve is picking up a slight current from elsewhere but if the machine operates normally we can rule that out -(could leave unplugged and check if it fills up)

99% of times i have encountered this problem its the solenoid valve - give them a ring and tell them its a faulty part and you dont think its a new part and see what they say

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,692 ✭✭✭Payton

I'll ring them tomorrow and explain to them. I'll ring my brother and ask him to unplug the machine to see if the water still gets through. Thanks again

would you think that it could be the same problem with my machine? i tried it a few times today and once it filled wit water and spun for a while and then stopped, every other time it tries to take in water but just stops after a second and then does nothing!

without looking at the machine i am only guessing but i will apply logic

first thing machine should do is call for water ,on that particular model it will draw a small amount from one solenoid ,then stop change solenoid and draw water from that - if the second solenoid is faulty it wont continue with the program (i have simplified things )

so 1 solenoid might be faulty -

again ,this can be caused by the washer being connected to a tank feed or low pressure system in a house -they should always be connected to the mains feed or the high pressure side
some zanussi washers measure intake verus time and will cut out if not enough water enters in the given timeframe

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9 rain2301

yea that sounds like what is wrong, the machine is connected to a mains supply and the pressure is excellent, where abouts are the solenoids? is there any way of testing them?

have you stopped selling reconditioned appliances as well ? (second hand )

when you were on ballymount road in dublin it was always handy to pick up reconditioned/reworked cookers etc .

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 870 ✭✭✭knighted_1

do you have a link to the finished goods ?

im always looking for appliances that are under manufacturers warrenty and not just gauranteed by the shop
