Hi peeps! Gonna be heading over to Thailand with a tour soon, doing Pattaya and Bangkok, and they said they would allow us to hv one free day with train pass in Bangkok. So I'm wondering if anyone here has any knowledge of the must see and must go places around that area. Thx in advance!

When I was there I went to The Grand Palace, the reclining Budda, Vimanmek Teak Mansion and Jim Thompson's House, I would recommend any of them. I went to the Bangkok Zoo but would not recommend that.

the palace is really nice but the city itself isn't!

    it's over-crowded industrial and polluted

do visit a market though great atmosphere and you can try some unusual foods
the floating market is kinda cool too. the water is filthy but it is an experience!

I agree with magentas. I was walking around on the first day and when I got back to my hotel room I was coughing my lungs up. That's pretty much all that's bad. There's the Wat Pho Palace, The Grand Palace and I took a ride on the river too. Ko San Road is a bit over-hyped but it's near the Grand Palace anyway. A good tip is always hail a taxi or tuck tuck - never go in one that's waving/calling you over with a big grin. They'll only take you where you don't want to go.
