I assume that based on the current financial difficulties the country is encountering that this scheme will not be available next year.

I think it will still be there next year as it is an EU scheme and is partially(?) funded by EU so it has to be open. I think it is only open to 10,000 entrants a year to a max payment of E10,000 each but as you can see from this years debacle on start dates and elegible plans i doubt it will be very popular

10k a year, or 10k in total for the scheme? I can't remember which.

6,000 and something applicants got letters of acceptance, 3,000 and some others are still waiting on letters (I think).

€5k is the maximum AEOS payment regardless of how many or what options chosen.

It's already proven a lot more popular than the attendance figures at the Galway info meeting I was at suggested. Any port in a recession.

Just coming back to correct the 10k to 5k. Thanks fr clearing that up:). And i think it is 10,000 a year max. can join for 5 years (so they may actually get out to check a few of them. Those travel expenses dont claim themselves you know:rolleyes:)

100% inspection rate, so everyone in the scheme will get a visit.

That's what the Dept lads at the Galway meeting said. Bit of a collective inhalation of breath then :D In fairness they're simple enough plans, or at least the one drawn up for me was, still no idea whether I'm in or out (out €600 odd if that's the case).

As I am in my final year of Reps 3, will the AEOS scheme be available for me to enter next year

Still waiting for word. Haven't actually heard of a rejection yet so fingers crossed.

I have grown a lot of trees in the past - is there any reason not to grow your own stock for AEOS or will you have to show receipts?

Just seems very tempting to cut out the middleman, esp as I would imagine prices are about to go into the stratosphere when nurseries see the possible killing to be made from all these bucks with their 5k cheques.

Depends when your REPS plan finishes and the 2011 AEOS closes. I believe AEOS closed May 17th(?) this year. If you had been in REPS and were finishing the 18th or 19th they wouldn't let ya in!

Might change for 2011, but that's the way it worked this year.

Is the AEOS scheme gone for new entrants.

Finishing in Reps 3 next May, so not looking good for entry to new AEOS scheme
