Thinking off touring around SW England,Devon,Cornwall etc for a week next Easter so looking to see if anyone has done this trip?Unsure whether to sail to Fishguard and drive down or fly in and rent a car, which will be much more expensive no doubt.Any suggestions/itineraries would be welcome.A week is prob not enough but would like to see the highlights of this area, without spending all the time driving.

Bath is quite nice and you're fairly close to Longleat Safari park which is worth a visit too. Stonehenge is in Wiltshire as well but that's just a load or rocks in the ground so i wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to go there!

Thanks Jack, yeh Bath seems like a nice city.Looked around the net last night and there's so much to see and do,between parks, beaches, quaint little villages etc.Sailing over costs €258 with car.Whereas car rental(ford focus) for 9 days costs about €200 yet I can't get flight prices on ryanair for April 23rd-May1st?But I'm sure it wouldn't be too pricey so am tempted to do fly/drive.It may be €100 or so more expensive for us but it's quicker&less hassle.Anyone else done this trip?

Bath is a lovely place alright, but a hell of a long way from cornwall and devon. you dont want to spend your time on englands motorways;)

I would recommend fly/drive to be honest. The less time spent on motorways the better.

I live in Plymouth on the border between Devon and Cornwall, so the following is pretty biased! I love it down here but primarily because of the countryside, beaches and outdoor activities. If a city break is more your style then I would say Bath is your best bet. Beautiful place (although horrendous traffic in and out. Book accommodation early too)

If you would prefer an outdoorsy holiday then Cornwall is the place to go. You can fly into Newquay with Air South West although it is more expensive than Ryanair. You can also fly to Plymouth with the same airline which may be more convenient for picking up a rental car. Getting the ferry and then driving would be too much if you're coming this far south.

Things to do (google for details):
South west coast path (path going along the entire coast of Devon/Cornwall; almost all sections are stunning)
    Minack Theatre (book early)
    Gwithian/Perranport/Padstow beaches
    Surfing
    Coasteering
    Fishing
    Plenty of little villages around
Some good eateries: Rick Stein has put Padstow on the culinary map. Jamie Oliver has a restaurant near Newquay. There are a couple of Michelin 'Bib Gourmand' restaurants (like a Michelin star but for affordable meals).
    Dartmoor
    Plymouth Gin Distillery

    Things to avoid:
Newquay (like the plague; horrible place)
Land's End (ruined a perfectly nice area by putting an amusement park on it)
