I mean, should they? I think they're fúcking hilarious and just what this country needs at the minute, a good laugh. Maybe a show where they travel around Ireland chatting to people on the street or something similar? What do you think?

The Hardy Bucks are bad enough without another bunch of unfunny idiots having a shit show on RTE.

Podge and Rodge fan, eh? Seriously though, I haven't watched RTE in ages because the **** they put on most of the time. Regardless of what you think, these lads are actually pretty funny. I'd never heard of the Hardy Bucks before but after watching a few mins on RTE I can say they're nothing like the Rubberbandits.

What's that got to do with anything? I imagine the reason people don't like these lads are simply because they're from Limerick (or they're just not from your side of the country), which is pretty fúcking sad to be honest. I wonder if Ireland will ever break away from this tribalist bullshít and realize that people are generally the same everywhere you go.

Oh wonderful! I'm delighted I just paid a ridiculous €160 for my bullshit television license! I'm getting value for money!

RTE, again, just taking a bandwagon and grabbing on. Other than Reeling In The Years, I cant think of one thing RTE show worth watching.

Regardless of what anyone thinks, some peoplefind them funny.

Then again, some people find things like Brendan O'Carroll and genocide funny.

The rubberbandits are very funny imo and can come up with witty stuff on the spot.
    Heres a funny one

    The shotgun one is brilliant

I think its hard not to like them

There's a Rubber Bandits bandwagon now?

I think they're funny but don't think they'd carry off a full TV show.

But of course, anything that's on RTE, rabble rabble rabble licence fee rabble rabble etc. etc.

Well, when I say bandwagon, I mean, the 15 year old son or daughter of the commissioning editor probably ran into daddy one day and told him about a great new band they saw that totally loike, really should have their own show on the TV, loike.

I only wish I had their creativity. Yes, the bags on the head are a bit strange and it put me off them at first but I watched a few of their prank call videos and they're pretty hilarious.

Everyone apparently loved them until they appear on RTÉ and now they're "Not funny, no matter what you think".

I agree, they are very funny and pretty original which is rare in Irish comedy. Plus the Limerick accent was made for comedy. :D

My username is in honor of this fella. Ireland could do with a few Panchos right now.

Yeah, perhaps they wouldn't be able to pull off a whole 30 mins. but I'd love to see them on a comedy variety show or something similar. I just think they're talented comedians and deserve to gain a wider audience. Their music's not bad either! :D

Hardy bucks are a disgrace. Rubberbandits are very funny but you can tell they are very intelligent lads behind the bags. Their prank calls on you tube are excellent. I went to one of their sold out whelans gigs and it wa great. Not only the funny lyrics but their rapping skills. When they were invited into the Phil (or hist) society they caused a near riot with the crowds. They have already sold out their London gigs and headlined Electric Picnic. They should not be compared to any **** comedy that rte has produced.

    its the talent,not the promotion.

Maybe a show on TV3? God knows that station could do with one good program. :D I just hope someone picks them up before the English do. How many more Father Teds are we gonna send over to Channel 4? And yeah, after watching 3 mins of Hardy Bucks on Youtube I agree. More shíte Irish "comedy" on telly because one of them probably has connections in RTE.

i don't think we have sent over anybody good since father ted...not to mention most irish comedians around now aren't funny, original or deserving of any air-time,the panel is a good example of how bad irish promoted comedy is at the moment.

I genuinely know the 16 year old son of the RTE Head of Programme Commissioning (or something like that); I promise you, he has no input whatsoever.

They are obviously gifted comedians and have a good ear for music. The songs they wrap over are very funky. But why do you think they need a TV show? At this stage they're makin enough gigging for now. The act would never work I'n the UK as they would have no idea what the fcuk they are saying. However the lads have a bright future in comedy long after Rubberbandits. People who think they are crap just don't understand the humor and wit behind it and probably enjoy watching Friends for their comedy fix!

Well the lad saying we sent them over to Channel 4 is implying that they couldn't get it made in Ireland so went to Channel 4.

    This simply isn't the case.

where did he say rte turned them down?,where did he say it couldn't be made here?,he was stating that irish comedians had to be approached from abroad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,109 ✭✭✭Cavehill Red

Is there any evidence whatsoever that RTE intend to commission this shower?
Because if there isn't, then this thread ought to be closed on the grounds that it's pure sh!te.
If Pancho wants to big up his posse in the hope of getting a telly show, the best way for him to do that is to write to RTE, not on boards.

    I said he 'implied' that.

When you imply something you don't say it outright. That's why I used the word 'implied'.

And, if you want to nitpick, he didn't state that 'Irish comedians had to be approached from abroad' he said "How many more Father Teds are we gonna send over to Channel 4?".

Well he's going by the fact that they were on Republic of Telly on RTE this week. So RTE have already commissioned them to a small degree.

Dude, I've been on RTE a number of times in various contexts. It doesn't remotely mean they commissioned a show from me.

Have you been paid to write and perform a section of a show for them? If so then they commissioned you to do that.

The Rubberbandits were commissioned to write and perform a sketch/report for Republic of Telly. I presume this is where the OP is getting the idea for them to get their own show.

I'm not saying they have been commissioned to do their own show, I was merely stating that RTE have already commissioned some work from them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,109 ✭✭✭Cavehill Red

And they commissioned work from me too. But it still doesn't remotely mean that I was ever getting my own show.

I think there brilliant, the prank calls and the willie o dea thing are enough to warrant them a tv show.

What have baz and that stupid bint of the bord gas ads and othe gob****es do to warrant anything to do with telly? friends in high places is what.

But in the first post it's quite obvious that he's only asking the question. And let's take a look, yup there's a question mark in the thread title too!

So you want the title changed now, not the whole thread closed? :)
