remap vs chip?

can anyone tell me the advantages vs the disadvantages of both?

chip is cheaper,remap is better but more expensive, chip can be detected by insurance company's easier in the event of a crash. a good remap tends to give a smoother power line as you go up the revs. less flat spots and spikes like a generic chip because all engines are different, a custom remap is the best you can get but costs 400-600.

torque tronix in the north are good as they use hub rolling road yoks instead on the normal ones so its more accurate.

Chipping is old school these days. Most modern cars are remapped through the cars diagnostic port, an updated map is flashed onto the ecu.

Chipping involved removing the ecu and replacing or adding a chip with an updated map.

This is what I thought. Most new cars ECU's can be remapped using a laptop, thereby eliminating the need of using a new chip.
