Some sites says its ok, some sites say its a big no no...

    So the question,
I have an Acer 5920G and need a new charger. The charger that came with the laptop is a 90W (19V 4.74A), I would like to know if I could replace it with this 65W (19V, 3.42A).

    Thanks,
    Joker

The 90W is enough to run the laptop AND charge the battery at the same time

generally speaking you can use a lower powered adaptor for a while,, a lot of Dell Latitudes give you an option in the BIOS to do so , I've had toshibas that needed 5A running from a 3A adaptor but you need to charge the battery for five minutes as it didn't have enough power to start the laptop if the battery was totally flat

other option is put an ad on www.adverts.ie for an adaptor or search elsewhere for one or buy a generic adaptor with enough power

Ok thanks for that. I can get the one I need online for €42, but I just wanted to see if 65W was enough so I could get it today in Maplin, but I suppose I would make more sense to buy the right one online and wait. Thanks again, Capt'n Midnight!
