The Five best wrestling promos picked by you! However what is the best of all them?

Convoluted thread title! :pac:

A wee while ago, I set up a thread where we nominated our favorite wrestling promos ever. The thread stalled which was totally my fault but after some votes, I counted the numbers and here were the top five.

So which of the following five is your favorite?
First up, Hogan turns heel. I don't need to describe this do I? We all know what happened here, its a seminal wrestling moment to say the least.

The second choice is a HBK promo where he destroys a rather rowdy Bret Hart crowd. This is great really, as you can see the joy that HBK took in this. He knew his heel turn would be short so he made it really memorable.

The third choice is an immense promo from Eddie on SD on Rey. Incredible passion from one of the greatest ever.

Fourth up is The Rock in Toronto. Its a much more lighted promo than Eddie, but its astounding watching the Great One play with the crowd. So many great quotable lines from him. You could argue this was his most enjoyable period of his career for most.

And finally but not least, Jericho's promo on Dean back in WCW. No list would be complete without him really.

HBK's promo at the time was one of the reasons I got into wrestling. Passion, reality and sheer brilliance all combined to make one amazing promo burying all the Canadian geeks.

I have to go with HBK as well; the taunting, the character, it all simply clicks in it and with the double taunt with the video and using Brett's video; priceless.

The Rock in Toronto for me, the crowd just wanted to cheer for him and he just kept coming out with these killer lines to piss them off. The ultimate heel promo IMO.

Seriously though, I can't moan to much about the five that made. All of them are wonderful for their own reasons. The one however I prefer the most id the The Rock in Toronto. Its just so rewatchable really, and it captured the essence of my favorite wrestler ever the Rock superbly. Their is so mnay killer lines and its delivery is epic. Seriously its HOF stuff their really.
I admit the Hogan promo and heel turn was an integral moment in pro wrestling and the Hogan promo is iconic, but I can't re watch ias much as the Toronto promo. Its sort of like Citizen Kane , I agree it may be the greatest film ever, but is it my favorite film? Nope. That was an odd comparison, but ye get my drift.:P

I do think the Eddie promo is a stunning piece of work however and probably deserves to be doing a little better than it is though.:(:(:(

I think the only possible reason there was no Flair in the top 5 is because he has had hundreds if not thousands of amazing promos and its hard to pick just one as a stand out.

Of that list, it has to be HBK in Canada. It was just perfect heel heat start to finish. Not to mention the fool me once.....incident.

Rock in Toronto is quite good as well as he had to work so hard to actually get the universal boo's. I think he only finally got there when he said the Maple Leafs suck (which they do).

I actually do not like the Jericho one, and I am a Jericho mark, but thats just preference.

I hated that Eddie/Rey storyline, so like nothing about anything that happened in it.

The Hogan one is amazing, but more for its importance than what was actually said.

Its close one for me between hbk and the rock.

BUT i have to give it to the rock.

HBK done the whole thing very well with playing brets music and looking genuinely worried.
( i was even watching it thinking i was going to see bret walk down the ramp!)
And fair play to him he milked it something rotten.

Although:

The rocks clinched it for me because he was really funny and really engaging.(as always of course)

But he was going from one thing to another where as HBK stuck on the one, viable subject.

Also when he responded to the crowd chanting hogan.
Actually all his responses were great.


The crowd wanted to cheer him, they knew he was heel but they still tried. That was very effectively overturned with the maple leafs comment.
It quickly turned to a justified "assholé" chant.


HBK walked in a heel, he was booed just for being in the building.

But the rock managed to walk in the peoples champion but walked out and made the people the chumps.

A worthy winner in my opinion.

I put RVD's in the original thread, a great promo. Heyman's is brilliant as well. Probably the best promo ever by a non-wrestler.

Steve Austin's coronation speech after winning the 1996 King of the Ring is probably the most important promo ever and it belongs in any top 5 promos list.
