This guy usually has pics of all the movements at Shannon. Pics may pop up over next day or two:

    According to Wiki only 5 in commercial service in 2010;

A total of 5 Lockheed L-1011s were in commercial service in March 2010 with operators Elite Aviation (1), EuroAtlantic Airways (1), Orbital Sciences Corporation (1), Sky Capital (1), and SAM Intercontinental (1).[51] The Royal Air Force operates nine L-1011 aircraft.[51]

Really?? I flew on the Euro Atlantic one back in 2003 (reg CS-TEB) and it felt bloody old back then, the inflight movie was about the aircraft/airline being proud to operate as a troop carrier in the Gulf War! (not sure which one though).

I'm pretty certain the Trump machine was a Boeing 727 and not a Tristar. ;)

That reminds me of my old spotting days in Shannon.

One day a Tristar (could have been ATA) was taxiing out to 24 when clouds of smoke could be seeen billowing out of one of the engines.

The tower asked "Do you know you have a lot of smoke coming out of your starboard engine?"

The reply was "That's ok,it's always doing that"

    Oh those RB211's.

Yes! That was a trade mark of the Tristar. Many a day on push back when the flight deck asked 'can you see the engines, ground?' Reply being 'No'

The Tristar is a beautiful aircraft.
Such a pity that it has dwindled in numbers, yet the DC-10 lives on!

How many DC-10s are in Commercial airline service now, this being DC-10s that carry passengers?

I dont think there are any DC 10 flying pax around any more most of them were sold to my old company and converted to freighters, even then we took out the old flight deck and installed an MD11 cockpit which took out the need for a flight engineer and renamed them MD10.
They are a great work horse but are slowly been retired like the old 727 100F and 200F aircraft,Judging by the pic of the trump 727 i reckon it is a 727-100.

I think actually that Biman Bangladesh Airlines might have one or two in service. They are going to be replaced by 777s.

Yeah such a pity bout them. I know, I hate seein the old three holers goin.
Love the sound of them JT8D's. The same with the 737-200s..

And yeah the Trump 727 is a -100!. Super sexy looking 727 too!

Looks very small for a 72-200 the difference in freighter versons was 3 main deck positions more than the smaller 72-100,Ah maybe its just the way the pic was taking.;)

Just found out she is a 100 first flown in 1968
, its the codes that make it seem to be a 200, These codes are after the -1,-2, -3 etc the 727 has - then code for -100s eg 727-27 and -2 then code eg 727-223.

Then that would make her one of the newer -100s. Considering that the first 727-200 flew in 1967, and the first -100 flew in 1964!

Whats your favourite the 100 or 200?

I like both,i like the 100 for its Pollution Dirty engines, a real mans man dirty powerful Aircraft but i also like the 200 for her being stretched a bit longer that the length suits her.

Well lads your not going see them ever again in european airspace due to noise restrictions(even though ours had hush kits:rolleyes:),I think there is a few still going around the USA as freighters serving the likes of south America and more than likely a few going around Africa.
Most of the companies operating the 727 switched over to the A300F although some have gone for the B757 200f why i dont know with exception of good fuel burn in it's favour.

    Yeah very true Donkey balls..
Sure DHL replaced their 72s with 757s, ex-BA machines.
The DHL in Panama city still operates 727s.

Not mant carriers usin them anymore, except a few in Africa and South America.. Aerogal operates a few. Although they are also flyin 732s too. Which is great..

Its sad to see these venerable birds being banned from the sky..
    I'm so bored of 737-800s and A320s..
    I also miss the TU-134s and TU-154s..

I remember seein an Aeroflot TU-134 taking off at Dublin, in 2000. The noise was ear splitting, you could hear the loud crackle..
Also when I was small, my dad would take me to the airport and we saw an Aer Lingus BAC-1-11 take off.. I was afraid.. The noise was unbearable.. And the smoke...:)

I had the pleasure:rolleyes: to fly on a TU154 some years ago form MOW-SJH-KTM,We stopped off in SJH for a refuel and crew change my knee was beat up against the front seat never again.
I think both sectors took about 6 hours each good aul Aeroflot.
