Hi can someone tell me how much rent allowance is given to a person with a wife and a 2 year old child. i know the amount is 605 in limerick but what for example if the person is on job seekers allowance getting €365.90 per week has rent of €600 and both parents are now working yet what amount will the person pay in rent and how much will RA pay.

Thanks in advance and need genuine answers please

You must pay at least €24 towards your rent. You may pay more than €24 because you are also required to contribute any additional assessable means that you have over and above the appropriate basic SWA rate towards your rent.

I've been helping my daugher (on social welfare + 1 child) pay her rent for the last three months and its crippling me,what are the chances of her being allowed rent allowance now-will we be told "you've been shelling out so far so you obviously can afford it"? Shes waiting to have her name taken off a mortgage after a broken relationship. Any advice please?

well she will have needed to have been renting for more then 6 months, if this is the case go down to the cwo and explain your case, maybe they will be sticky as to why she didn't do this in the first place but who knows, the only real way of knowing is go see them and find out.
