    Hi All,

Last November, my car was damaged due to flooding in Cork city. The car had to scrapped. I used this car to travel to work. The value of the car at the time was approx €1000.
Can I use this loss against my tax return? and where should I enter value in my F11 form?

    Thanks in advance

    Brendan

If you are an employee who just used the vehicle to travel to the place of employment, the answer is No.

If you are self-employed, and use the vehicle in the course of your business or trade, you may be able to get some relief, but I think it unlikely. Look up Revenue.ie for a list of deductible expenses, or ring Revenue help line.
