Medical Card

Applied for Medical Card on line. Very slow and getting conflicting information depending on who I speak with.

They sent me a letter saying that things were missing, but no form to correct and return. Then they tell me on the phone that the items in the letter are actually Ok and they are not happy with me using my own GP who I've been with for about 15 years, because he is too far away (about 20 miles) and that I must go to my local office and they will choose a Doctor for me.

I am being forced to take a Doctor who know nothing about my medical history. My own GP isn't very happy about that.

Surely I have a right to a free choice of doctor?

thought to claim for medical card one would have to go to ones local community centre.

Once your doctor is on their GMS panel list of GPs I don't know what their problem is....

There appears to be two ways: through your local office or online and send it into the central office in Finglas.

My GP has patients much further away than me who have medical cards.

I used him years before when I had a medical card for about a year and no problem then.
