    Hi all,

I just moved into a house and the housemates don't know how to set the timer on the heating system.

It's not one of those digital ones with the boost button etc.

This one is a large dial and you can move it to on and off positions...

I think there is numbers around the outside of the dial to be used for a timer.

Can anyone help please? I'm sick of waking up cold :(

    would be something like this...

The white arrow points to the time of day , the segments are either all out & push in the times you want the heat on for or all in & pull out the times you want the heat on for depending on the make of timer

The image shows the timer set at 1am.

The 2 buttons pressed in are set to turn the heating on as follows:

On at a quarter to midnight for 15mins off at midnight
Back on at a quarter past midnight off at half past midnight.

Each button is 15 mins worth of on time.

I tried pushing 3 button on, so it would come on it 7.15 and go off at 8am.

    But it didn't work.

    :(

is the selector switch set for timed?
there is usually a switch for
    permanent on
    permanent off
    timed on/off
have a look,it may be on the side or the front face of the dial

Is it set correctly to the current time? As stated earlier, the large white arrow points to the current time.

    Does it keep time?

Dam- I was puttin that arrow to the time I want the heating to come on... silly me!

So, big white arrow would go at 9.15 am now for instance and I would push in 3 slots starting at 7am for it to last until 7.45am...
